Paige is one!

Wow I can hardly believe its been a year. Paige had been a delight to have in our family. She was newborn baby for the first six months. Just nursing, sleeping, pooping. We held her every minute we could because I know it doesn’t last. I am not the type to keep my babies strapped into contractions. She was being held or on tummy time. Its so good for their developing brain and muscles.

We blessed Paige in September, she was nearly six months old. Paige was born, I recovered then Julz and I went to Seattle when Paige was 10 days old for Delanie’s baptism. Then school was out for Summer and Natalie came to visit. Then Neum went to work back east. The Goodins came and Shannon and my Mom. Neum came home and we blessed Paige at home on Sunday with Bishop Zan Murray. Neum pronounced a beautiful blessing, he blessed her to be a peacemaker. Which I felt she was since the day she was born.

When she began eating solids which I started more religiously around seven months just because I was so busy nursing was more quick and convenient we also began sign language. We would sign, eat, milk and all done. She within the last month just began signing back. The signs we can understand are dog, eat, and water. Obviously we had added these signs to her vocab before she started using them herself.

Okay so also the time she began eating solids we taught her to sleep through the night. Its heart breaking but so nice for both my husband, me and Paige. It took two nights of her waking up and crying herself back to sleep. By night three she slept through! What a good night sleep I finally had in over seven months. Now she consistently sleeps through the night. Occasionally she’ll wake up if she’s not feeling well and I get her and will nurse for a minute and put her back in her bed.

Paige began crawling right at 6 months she was a pro by seven months. We taught her to crawl up and down the stairs at 10 months. She’s really good at crawling up the stairs but still will stop half way on her way down to turn around and see how far she is from the bottom. So we still spot her. She has had a few tumbles down the stairs.

I purchased How to Teach your Baby Math from the Gentle Revolution. We did the dot cards for about 2 months when she was 5 months old. We put them away because life got hectic with selling our home, having Dan’s family live with us, and fixing up our rental getting it ready to live in. The Gentle Revolution also inspired me to teach Paige to crawl up and down the stairs. Babies are so intelligent and just want to learn, we often times don’t give them the opportunities for learning they crave.

Paige has had her first Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. She has learned so many things her first year. She and I went to Arizona at the beginning of April. Paige is a great traveler, like all of our children are. She’s been on the airplane twice, to Seattle and Phoenix. She loves animals but not grass or dirt, yet. She hasn’t had a desire to begin walking, although her dad gives her walking training. Paige is lucky to have such sweet big sisters and a great big brother. They all love you to pieces and are kind to you. Paige we are so glad you are in our family. Happy Birthday!
